Enhanced Rock Weathering Affects Formation of Mineral-Associated Organic Carbon in Soil

Comparison to Biomass: Mature corn fields capture roughly 7.5 tons of carbon per hectare annually through photosynthesis, which is about an order of magnitude higher than ERW.
Unlike ERW, most carbon captured by biomass returns to the atmosphere through seasonal growth, harvest, and decay cycles.
Measurement Challenges: The primary difficulty with ERW is the complex process of measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) required to detect such small amounts of carbon within a dynamic agricultural environment.”
